Some notes from camp

	Quote:
	Jeff King worked behind Dante Rosario at the Panthers' opening minicamp practice Friday. King started every game last season, but the Panthers want more from him in the run game. By drafting Gary Barnidge out of Louisville and "demoting" King, the coaching staff may be trying to motivate their incumbent starter.

	Tyler Brayton was the Panthers' first-team left defensive end as the Panthers opened up the minicamp season on Friday. Carolina is serious about using Julius Peppers on the weak side. For now, Charles Johnson and Stanley McClover will be looked at as situational ends.

	Rookie Charles Godfrey was immediately inserted as the first-string free safety during the Panthers' opening minicamp Friday. They're wasting no time getting Godfrey converted from cornerback. He's the heavy favorite to start in centerfield over Terrence Holt and Nate Salley.

	Surprisingly, Jake Delhomme (Tommy John surgery) threw 34 passes during individual drills at the Panthers' opening minicamp Friday morning. Delhomme is still not expected to take part in team drills, but the news should put the throwing mystery to rest. Delhomme says his recovery is going well and he hasn't had any setbacks.

	The Panthers are considering schematic shifts to increase pressure on the quarterback after finishing near the bottom of the league in sacks last season. The alignment changes include swapping DE Julius Peppers from the left side to the right side, which is the primary pass rush spot in most defenses. The alleged change could help Peppers with a bounce back season by putting in him in a position to make more plays.
