I'm watching the news today and along comes a story about Gibson (the guitar company) suing the makers of Guitar Hero and the stores that sells the game for copyright infringement. Gibson says they developed the concept back in 1999. Link to story

I've always heard if you could improve on a patent it basically becomes a new or different product and a new patent is granted. I would think the fact that Activision actually developed the product when Gibson didn't would qualify.

Hmmm, maybe I should patent my daughter and file lawsuits against everybody that gives birth to a girl for the rest of humanity.

Is the Les Paul they speak of the Les Paul I'm thinking of?

Probably is, he's the cool old guitar player that Gibson named a guitar after back in the early 1950's.

That would be him. My parents had some of his records with Mary Ford.

He was also known for inventing cool stuff like dirt, fire and the wheel. Unfortunately I was one among the first to use them.
