Qualifying change for this season!

I know that many don't agree with the top 35 rule in Nascar races but I doubt that is going to change anytime soon But nascar has finally done the right thing and put all the go or go home drivers on the track at the end of qualifying........... way to go Nascar


Go or Go Home Drivers to Qualify Together; NASCAR to Provide Tires for Tests: Michael Waltrip suggested last season that drivers outside the top 35 in owners' points should be allowed to qualify together so nobody would have an advantage in track conditions. NASCAR officials must have listened. The governing body kicked off its annual media tour by announcing that those outside the top 35 in all three series -- Sprint Cup, Nationwide Series and Craftsman Truck Series -- will qualify at the end of their respective session. It also was announced that teams will be provided tires for testing at non-sanctioned NASCAR tests. Sprint Cup teams will be given 200 tires, Nationwide teams 160 and Craftsman Truck Series teams 120.(

I think that's a good procedure to have in place.

A lot of people don't really care about these guys, but if you're going to put them at a disadvantage already then at least make it even. All too often the guys making it in were the ones who drew the favorable (early, late) positions. An errant cloud shouldn't determine who makes the show and who goes home . I wished they had reworked the rain out rules too, though. It's unfair to be fast enough to race in on Friday only to have it rain and completely miss the show. Let the go or go homers have their own session on Saturday to see who gets in.

Of course I say all this after the one non-35 car I cared about ceased operations for this season

Agree with that rule change

As money hungry as NASCAR is an with several Multi -car teams
Would not be surpriced if next season the number goes from 35 to 40 guranteed in .
Leaving the independents with just 3 spots to race for

The independent driver is Dying .

I agree with you Tazz.But not much we can do or say to change Nascar's ruling..Wish we could because some have off weeks..
