The Facts Man
|
By Jim Corbett USA TODAY
KAPOLEI, Hawaii Fred Taylor finally got to his first Pro Bowl after 10 seasons and 10,715 career yards. Some would say the Jacksonville Jaguars running back got his due after all his years of being overlooked. Others would say Taylor received his overdue. Taylor finished ninth in rushing this season, fifth in the AFC and ranks 21st on the league's all-time rushing list after helping lead the 11-5 Jacksonville Jaguars to the AFC's fifth seed. Taylor, who was a first alternate and an injury replacement for good friend and workout partner Willie Parker of the Pittsburgh Steelers, said many coaches and players congratulated him. But one well-wisher in particular stood out from the rest. "Mr. (Archie) Manning came up to me in the gym where I was working out during Super Bowl week and told me, 'Congratulations!' ," Taylor says. "It meant a lot." |
