Injuries

First, my thoughts and prayers go out to Richard Zednik of the Florida Panthers. In Sunday night's game against the Buffalo Sabres, Olli Jokinen was upended, resulting in his skate cutting the throat of Richard Zednik. Zednik was able to skate off the ice under his own power. Zednik was rushed to a Buffalo area hospital where he had "life-saving" surgery. Thoughts and prayers are with you Richard.

I heard about this on the news. I hope he makes a full recovery. It's a wonder things like this don't happen more often. Glad they don't.

The medical staff did an awesome job stabilizing him right after the injury. He is in stable condition after life saving surgery in Buffalo.

Yea, they did a great job. So your a hockey fan? Just occasional or big fan?

Big fan. In fact, I worked for the Hurricanes from the time they moved to Raleigh until 2003. I was an Asst. Equipment Manager. You would know that right after I leave they win the cup. LOL

Yea, I would love to have a job like that. But I'm only 15 so I don't know if our NHL Affiliate would let that fly, I might check that out. And that must really suck to have them win THE Cup after you leave...So you got in touch with people like Staal and Erik Cole?

Oh yeah. When I left, Staal was a rookie. A quiet little kid who needed to gain some weight...now he is a superstar.

Cole is the one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. I worked their for 6 years and saw a lot of people come and go. LOL

On game nights, I was in charge of the visiting team locker room, so I met them all. I have an autographed stick collection that is pretty sweet:

Gretzky, Paul Coffey, Ray Bourqe, Patrick Roy, Martin Brodeur, Ron Francis, Jaromir Jagr, and a bunch more.

I attached a copy of old pics of me. One with Patrick Roy and one of me hanging Theo Fleury's jersey in the visitors locker room.

Good news--Zednik has been released from the hospital and is now back in Florida.
