Politics

Anyone following the early primaries? It's quite a year for political junkies like me, and with super duper mega Tsunami Tuesday coming up in a few days things are still up in the air. On the Repub side it looks like McCain all but has it in the bag, but Romney still has a checkbook with his name on it. Then on the other side you have Billary and Obama neck and neck...literally separated by a handful of delegates with the big states coming to play. Then when you factor in the way the Democrats divvy up delegates there's a good chance this contest won't be decided for a while yet

So what say you random sample of educated football fans

It's hard not to watch when so much is at state. As a red state guy I'm really concerned about John McCain. I have a hard time falling in love with someone who doesn't love me or my party. McCain has shown over and over that he does NOT love Conservatism but only tolerates it. His stand on immigration, amnesty etc. is a major concern. That said there is not much to do but watch being here in North Carolina and not having much say in the process. Don't get me started.

Hill is burning her bridges with this primary. People want change and not another (potentially) 8 years of Clinton. If she were to win the job that would be at least 32 (maybe 36) years of rule with a Bush or Clinton in the White House. And you know Jeb and Chelsea are there to keep the bloodline flowing.

Which is the reason so many people view Obama as a breath of fresh air, both politically and socially. He has really energized the younger block and shook up the Democratic party.

I think McCain beats Clinton head-to-head in November by about 5 or 6. Unless you're under a rock in Montana then you already know Hillary and have made your mind up about if you like her. With Obama you have a chance to sway a lot of independent voters and Repubs who are tired of the current mess and aren't happy with McCain. Obama beats McCain by 7 to 9 points is my guess.

Gotta disagree with you a bit here. McCain has certainly been a bit of a maverick at times, but he is getting a solid mid-80% range rating from most conservative interest groups. There are issues on which many conservatives, including me, disagree with Senator McCain. But don't let that blind you to the many other areas where we'll like him.

And for those of us on the Right, he is just about infinitely prefferable to Hillary (rated in the teens by Conservative groups) or Obama, who is generally rated as the most liberal Senator by both liberal and conservative groups.
