I saw a stove like this demonstrated by the Boy Scouts Of America. From what I am told, these mini stoves are common among hard core back-packers. I plan on trying this out and making one. You can get De-Natured Alcohol at camping stores, but you can probably get it cheaper at Home Depot.

Well, I made a couple of these stove over the weekend. It worked great. Definitely use the denatured alcohol in the isopropyl alcohol. It ignites and burns much better. Watch out for those invisible flames though. You think that it is not lit when it is.
I think it would come in very handy for hurricane season. Being made out of 2 soda cans and a wire coat hanger, the cost is next to nothing. |
