An overwhelming favorite runs ninth without injury...that sounds like a fix could have been in.
38-1 longshot comes in. In truth, it is hard to win the triple crown in horse racing. |

From all reports , Big Brown scoped clear of any bleeding or mucous in the lungs and is 100% sound. The quarter crack that was such a pre race issue was a non factor. Big Brown normaly races on the anti bleeding medication Lasix which is barred on New York racing tracks. There are non medical ways to draw a horse up for racing, such as withholding electrolytes earlier and withholding water earlier than normal(the water bucket is pulled normaly 4 hours prior to racing). Big Brown was not sweating as much as most of the other horses so it looks like a combination of dehydration and fighting Desormeaux during the begining of the race wore him down.
