BUCS hire QB COACH......Greg Olson

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3218444

In a move that reunites starter Jeff Garcia with a coach who was a key to his past success, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have hired former St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Greg Olson as their quarterbacks coach.

Olson, 44, was the Rams' coordinator under head coach Scott Linehan for 2006 and last season. But following a 2007 season in which St. Louis' offense tumbled to a No. 24 statistical ranking in the league, Olson was told he would be replaced.

He was afforded the opportunity to remain on Linehan's staff as a position coach, but granted permission to seek work with another franchise. The Rams have yet to hire an offensive coordinator but are courting Al Saunders, the former Washington Redskins assistant head coach who was fired Saturday.

Olson replaces veteran NFL assistant Paul Hackett with the Buccaneers. Hackett was Tampa Bay's quarterbacks coach for the past three seasons.

In the reshaping of coach Jon Gruden's staff, the Bucs are still considering candidates for the post of running backs coach, the lone major vacancy remaining.

Olson worked with Garcia in San Francisco in 2001, when the veteran quarterback had a career-high 32 touchdown passes and was named to one of his three Pro Bowls with the 49ers. He was also on the Detroit Lions staff in 2005, when Garcia played there.

IF THIS HELPS GARCIA, THEN IT'S A GOOD MOVE!
