I can't believe I hear fans that have no problem paying $50- $100 a game for tickets and can't see the merit in keeping the starting QB happy with say another $ million a year when the team is like 25 million under the salary cap? No, better to give a washed up Warrick Dunn and his 3.5 YPC average about 6 million?! Puh-lease!
Just add the 2 million dollar bonus to his salary he missed out on last year because they rested him the last 2 games. I bet thats all he wants! |

I don't have any problem with a raise, but I don't like him whining to the press about the contract talks "going at a snails pace." At least they're talking, and the Bucs have been fair to their players. It seems like Garcia thinks that just because we have tons of cap space, he should be paid like a Manning or Brady. JMHO.

No, I don't think he wants that kind of money, or D Hall money (70 million for 7 years) either. This team doesn't make the playoffs without him. Heck, his mobility made the O Line look much better than they are.
I'd pissed to if they "rested me" for the last two weeks and it cost me $2 mill. in incentives. jMho. |

I agree.. if we didn't sit him the last couple of games.. he would have gotten his bonus... so we should give it to him, Heck if he wasn't cold after sitting so long we might have went further in the playoffs too.... IMO... but then if he got hurt everyone would have been.. why did you play him... so it's that ole catch 22 |

THE CELTICS ARE BACK!!!!!
|
love his toughness, his mobility, and gritty-ness, but I cannot stand to see him scramble when he doesnt have to.
seems he likes to make every drop back a highlight. step back n throw the dam ball inbetween the tackles instead of getting shifty when theres NO pressure around whatsoever and rolling out. another thing is he holds the ball out there when scrambling which makes me hold my breath every time. I like the guy, but dont come demanding and threatening to skip workouts.... and in all honesty, the guy is or will be 38! come on jeff, play ball..... |

Garica is the reason we made the playoffs last year. I'm not going to list his abilities and what he brought to Tampa. As far as his contract. He should be way into his last year before any of this crap starts. It looks like he wants to cash in on one good year. He should wait until the end of this year before making waves. If he makes it this season without injuries and at least puts us in a playoff spot(or better). Hell give him the seven million. Thats still less than some of last years number 1 picks at QB make and a few haven't even played a down yet or may as well not have. He's here we may as well use his talents.
1. Play him this year 2008 2. Give him a three year contract(at least 15 million) 3. Start him in 2009+ draft a QB 4. Split playing time with new drafted QB in 2010 5. Give him his gold watch at the end of 2011 |

So is Jeff giving back the money he collected when he missed games due to injury. He doesn't miss games with injury he gets his mil. If he is not an injury risk anytime you play him he gets his 1 mil.
Personally I feel they should give it to him sincethey held him out. I also feel Gruden had no idea Jeff would miss out on a mil either. This new whining is getting old though. He signed a contract a year ago- now he wants more-- why didn't he think of this last year. If I am the Bucs I stand firm. He is 38 y/o and on his last swan song. He is not going to sit out and he sure isn't going to retire. His base is 2 mil. he can make up to 1.5 more in incentive, and he is already on the books for 1.5 from the SB last year. Thats 5 mil for a 38y/o QB who posted just 13 TD's and is a huge injury risk. tedc-- why do u think this guy will be the Bucs QB in 2010 at over 40y/o. |
