Quick explanation of exactly what the Gatorade Duels races are all about.................for you non-NASCAR types. If you already understand the concept - just scroll down to the rules of this week's Challenge.
The field will all qualify this Sunday, but only the pole and outside pole positions will be locked in. All other positions will be decided based on the drivers' finishing positions in their respective duel races - that will be run on Thursday, February 14th. These 2 races start with the odd numbered qualifiers first, then the even numbered qualifiers run the second race. So, if Stewart qualifies 4th overall, he'll start 2nd in his race.
Only the top 15 finishers are guaranteed a spot in the 500, with the rest of the field being filled out based on qualifying times from Sunday and Champ's provisional, if needed.
The reason I have to post the Duels Challenge and the Daytona 500 Challenge at the same time is because driver choices are dictated by qualifying results.
Okay........on to the rules:
1. Pick two (2) numbers between 2 and 25.
2. Get in before qualifying, which is this Sunday afternoon.
3. These two numbers correspond to starting positions in each race, giving you a total of 4 drivers. We'll take the finishing positions of all 4 guys and add them together to get your final score - lowest wins.
Here's a bonus:
If any of your drivers wins his race, I'll knock 15 points off your score.
